DW Redwall- Zhou Yu

Zhou Yu the Fox

I didn't mean to draw so many foxes in one go, but I did them by request on the KW forums, and they just so happened to request two foxes in a row (I don't tell them what they'll be, though I may drop a hint or two.) But enough of that, foxes are cool.

Zhou Yu fits the fox, in my opinion. He's clever, crafty, easy on the eyes and renown for their beauty, but most importantly, that darker side, such as vain and jealousy, and sometimes paranoia. Zhou Yu is a pretty complex and tragic figure, as he's often portrayed as this jealous and paranoid man who has this personal vendetta against Zhuge Liang, and we the viewers are suppose to laugh and mock him when he fails, in lieu of Zhuge Liang's 'superior' strategies. Honestly, I always felt pity for the guy.

He knew Zhuge Liang to be a threat to Wu and even if some of his hatred for the man sprang off of petty jealousy, it's not like his fears weren't warranted. Zhuge Liang WAS a threat to Wu and hid himself behind smiles and a calm composure, even going as far as to 'fake tears' at Zhou Yu's funeral to gain the moral high ground in front of Zhou Yu's own officers, and if that's not taking a jab at someone, then I don't know what is.

The reason why I made Zhou Yu a fox is because I find they are the more tragic figures in Redwall, originally neutral creatures who are prone to more of the darker side of nature such as jealousy and paranoia, and are often defeated by their own hands in the end.

Zhou Yu belongs to Koei and China's history, Redwall belongs to Brian Jacques, and art belongs to me. No idea who's coming next.
