The Great Race, Part 5 of 5.

"Shortly after, the Dog came swimming onto shore, and the Jade Emperor questioned why he, the greatest swimmer of the animal kingdom, had come in so late in the race. The Dog explained that the river's currents were no match for his skills, but he was simply having too much fun and couldn't resist swimming a few more laps before finishing the race. The Dog is given the 11th year.

Lastly, there came a squeal, and all turned to see the Pig running to shore. The Pig explained that the race had made him terribly hungry, and after his feast, he had to rest and take a nap. After the nap, he finished the race, and he was given the 12th and final year."

Some stories have it to where the Cat died in the river, whereas others have it to where the Cat does make it across but is 13th and therefor does not get a year. Was considering adding the cat in the background, clinging to a rock, but I feared that'd detract from the focus, which is the (Shiba Inu) dog and the slumbering Pig.

Dog looks so happy, doesn't he? I know they're a Japanese breed and not a Chinese, but I couldn't resist drawing him in there.
